Legislative and ASTm Update:

In 2024, I initiated an ASTM committee to set an international standard for conducting FCA - Facility Condition Assessment studies. This new standard is due to hit the streets later in 2025. The committee is preparing to vote on the 1st draft in September, 2025. Look for more information.

Maryland’s BEP (Building Energy Performance) legislation for 2025 requires 13,000 buildings in MD to benchmark their energy-use and carbon footprint by September 1 this year.

If you need assistance in knowing if your building is required to comply (most buildings over 35,000 square feet in size with some exceptions), please contact FCI Advisers for assistance. In 2026, and every 5 years thereafter, benchmarking reports are required to be certified by a professional.

FCI Advisers can assist in certification with our MD architecture license.

Are you struggling to manage the risk associated properties, buildings, facilities, portfolios, or campuses?

FCI Advisers are here to help you navigate the complexities of understanding design, construction, and management of your facilities.
